Designed specifically for high-traffic and wet areas, Villaboard lining is an ideal internal wall and ceiling solution for bathrooms, laundries, kitchens, and other demanding spaces in residential, medium-density, and commercial buildings. It is versatile enough to be used on both timber and light gauge steel framed structures. Thanks to its superior tensile bond strength, which is significantly higher than that of plasterboard, Villaboard lining can support thicker tiles higher on the wall, making it a robust choice for areas prone to moisture and heavy use.
One of the standout features of Villaboard lining is its ability to maintain strength even when wet. Its tensile bond strength is up to 75% greater than wet area plasterboard when dry and 300% greater when wet. This high impact resistance makes it an excellent option for high-traffic areas that experience frequent wear and tear. Additionally, its homogeneous nature allows for easy correction of tiling mistakes without damaging the substrate. Villaboard lining also offers up to 60 minutes of fire rating when used with HardieSmart™ wall systems, making it suitable for internal bracing.
Moisture resistance is a critical requirement for linings used in wet areas, and Villaboard lining excels in this regard. Made from James Hardie fibre cement, it is homogeneously resistant to moisture damage, ensuring that it won't deform or lose structural integrity even if it gets wet. This results in fewer costly rectifications due to moisture damage in both commercial and residential applications. Independent tests conducted in accordance with ASTM D3273-00 have shown no mould growth on Villaboard lining, earning it a perfect rating of 10. Additionally, it is resistant to damage from termites, rot, and fire.
