Intergrain Universal™ Timber Oil is an oil-based coating designed to protect and nourish all timber species from within. The deeply penetrating, clear finish will never flake, blister, or peel and helps prevent warping, cupping, and splitting. This versatile timber oil allows the wood to gradually fade over time to a natural grey or can be tinted using Intergrain Colour Additive for a longer-lasting finish. Specially formulated to coat over existing mineral oil coatings, Universal™ Timber Oil also creates an unlocked system, enabling water-based or oil-based coatings to be applied over the top in the future.
For best results, new bare timber, new pre-oiled timber (including mineral oil), and rejuvenated bare grey/weathered timber should be cleaned with Intergrain UltraPrep Timber Cleaner to ensure the surface is free from debris, droppings, and stains. If maintaining bare grey/weathered timber, simply wash the surface with water. For existing coatings in poor condition, remove the coating using a combination of Intergrain UltraPrep Tannin and Oil Remover and power washing, followed by cleaning with Intergrain UltraPrep Timber Cleaner. For paints, varnishes, or coatings in varied conditions, remove all existing coatings using a coatings stripper or by sanding back to bare timber, then clean with Intergrain UltraPrep Timber Cleaner. If mould is present, use Intergrain UltraPrep Mould Killer as the first step in preparing the timber for coating.
