Bare Concrete Etch & Clean 4L is designed to roughen concrete surfaces for optimal adhesion. It is ideal for both new and old bare concrete, preparing the surface for Dulux Concrete & Paving Stage 2: Bare Concrete Primer. With a spread rate of up to 12m²/L, this product ensures thorough preparation of your concrete surfaces.
Dulux Concrete & Paving Etch & Clean is the essential first stage before coating bare concrete surfaces. Formulated to penetrate the concrete, it ensures optimal adhesion for subsequent paint coats. This concentrated formula visibly works within minutes, penetrating and cleaning bare concrete surfaces to prepare them for Dulux Concrete & Paving Stage 2: Bare Concrete Primer. Application tools include a stiff bristle broom, and cleaning materials required are water. Always prioritize safety by wearing suitable protective clothing, including chemical-resistant gloves and eyewear, when mixing and applying the product.
Features
- Sweep the surface clean.
- Pressure wash the surface, removing any dirt and loose materials. Wait for the surface to be free of pooled water.
- Mix the Dulux Concrete and Paving Bare Concrete Etch and Clean into a bucket or watering can at a ratio of 1 part cleaner to 4 parts water. For heavily stained areas, use a ratio of 1 part cleaner to 2 parts water. IMPORTANT: When preparing the dilution, always have the water in the container first and then add the cleaner.
- Apply the diluted Bare Concrete Etch and Clean liberally and evenly across the surface using a watering can and use a stiff bristle broom to work the solution into the concrete. You should notice bubbling of the solution as it reacts with the concrete. Wait for 15 minutes and then scrub again with the broom. Do not let the surface dry out in this time, adding a little more water if required.
- Rinse off using a high-pressure washer to leave the surface clean.
- NOTE: Steps 4 to 6 may need to be repeated for heavily stained surfaces. You are now ready for Stage 2 – Priming.
